1998 toyota corolla ran fine, crashed LIGHTLY, drove home, shut off, now no start
as the description states, i got in a very light front end collision to the
pass. front, drove it home (just bent the core support a little and broke
the headlight, and messed up the hood/bumper a little), and shut it off,
afterwards, it will no longer start, turn the key to on, and all the lights
and whatnot work, but turn it to start and it does nothing. i jumped the
starter relay, and it turns over fine so i'm thinking it's something
security system related? the only thing i could see it affecting is a small
sensor (air bag sensor maybe?) thats right behind the pass. headlight. any
ideas on the problem or how to fix it?
Have you checked your crank sensor? Most of the time, the crank sensor can go bad WHILE the car is driving. It can be broken, but the car will still run and it wont shut off on you. The problem comes when you shut off the car, then it wont start.
The neutral safty switch, or the fuse for you parking\brake lights. Did you bang up a light?
I only come to know this because our 95 DX had a simular problem that gave the gearheads fits. I found a rear lamp shorting and blowing the fuse casing the neutral safty to not allow the starter to engage. Battery was good... Lights all seemed to work ... Horn blew...
it ran and drove fine prior to the crash and even then ran fine, until i got home and shut it off. IF i jump the starter relay though, it turns over, but if i just turn the key to "start" it does Nothing. but it still does not start, as the fuel injection relay is not kicking on.

played with again today, crank sensor is just peachy. again an overview of the problem:
ran fine, got in a very light crash, parked at a gas station, exchanged insurance info, it fired right up, drove home, then it wouldn't start anymore. it doesn't even crank when you turn the key to start, it does nothing.
IF i jump the starter relay under the hood, it turns over, but it has no gas and no spark, so i am thinking maybe an alarm related issue? when the key is "on" radio works fine, heater controls work, etc... it has the vip rs3000 security system (toyota), please help if you have any idea's guys, i really need the car to drive tomorrow.
I had an accident like that as well, but I faired better. Well driving that is. I had my hood crumpled up and the radiator, and fluids leaking, but not gas or oil, or antifreeze. My tires were rubbing abit, I mean the front ones. I drove back to the dealership that was about 25 Km.hr away.
