My '82 Corolla

As you might have read in my other post i havea '82 two-door 4-speed 'rolla-which I love.

But I need some help. I'm working on mostly theory here but i want to cram the 2RZ-FE 2.4L DOHC I-4 from a Tacoma into my corolla. I would also like the matching 5-speed tranny and rear end while i'm at it. As if that's not enough I want rebuild the engine with JE forged pistons TRD custom titainium con-rods, custom Greddy high-lift cams and ajustable cam sprocket, custom intake and exhaust manifolds--you know the basics. To top it off I also want to run a twin-turbo intercooled setup. My goal is 385HP @ the wheels.

But I have a few qeustions;

1: can the tacoma tranny and rear end handle that much power without melting?
2: what would i have to do i order to get that engine to mount in there?

I seriously doubt the transmission would actually melt, never seen that happen, burning your clutch might be a problem, but a multiplate system should help in that

Custom made enginemounts most likely, some improvised harness modifications, fuelpump, fuellines maybe...those are for starters.

no i have the 3TC and the reason why i want the 2RZ-FE is cuz it's a steel block which i know is heavier but i feel safer about stressing a steel engine rather than a aluminum one.

Besides it's a newer ingine and i like it's design.

heh i will, give me time. i'll tell you right now she's ugly-she's shit brown(ugly color!) and has a couple of rust spots. but i'm going to paint her steel gray and put her on 17's(and with enough brake and suspension mods to make a indy car nervous!) and no i will not lower her toyota design her at that height i will leave it that way

You are right that the 3TC is a classic engine. But it is rarely known that
the 3TC is a HEMI engine with Hemispherical pistons, 4-2-1 exhaust system. double roller timing chain and a crossflow head. All this racing technology stock!

It has good low end power so you don't have to rev high to get going.
I have the catalytic converter bypassed and still pass emmissions.

I guess Toyota figured that it was too good and the TE72 only last less than two years (80-82) before they redesigned a cheaper corolla for 83+.

But I like the idea of a truck engine in the 82 Rolla. Lots of low end torque.
But it would upset the 50:50 weight distribution and handling. You would need heftier springs on the front end and check that rust is not eating away the left side like my car.

The 3TC has a cast iron block and aluminum heads.
I would think the 2RZ-FE is cast iron not steel.

the 3TC is a HEMI?? wow, that makes sense now! TRD told me that it makes about 85 HP and 93 lb-ft of torque. I know that someone's wondering "but but but it's hemi isn't it suppose to have lots 'o HP?" yeah but it's only a 1.8L

anyway yeah i know it would upet the weight balance but i'm going to take out the rear seat and put a aliminum rall cage in it and swicth to dual optima yellow top batteries and move them to the rear. Plus i'm going to go to home depot and buy some wood (not just anywood mind you) and build a custom box for a 12" 700W kenwood sub i think that will reset the weight balance.

as far as the front suspension goes, i'm looking at TRD progressive rate springs i think those will do
