Rattling under my car!!!!

Hey guys,Ive noticed that when my car is in "Drive" with my foot on the brake, there is a rattling under the car.It sounds like under the engine. If I put it in "Neutral" the noise goes away.Any idea what could be causing this??

Maybe your engine mounts are worn and need to be replaced :-?

I would say heat shield also.
I have a 92 sentra that did the same thing, it was the heat shield in the pipe before the cat.

I changed the engine mounts in March of this year.I doubt they could be ruined already as they were original Toyota equipment.Ill check them anyway but I never thought about the heat shield.Ill check it out. Thanks guys!!!!

there's two places where it usually rattles, and I've had them both and eliminated them both.. First one is the head shield on the exhaist manifolt (Notice there's two, one on top and one on the bottom). You can check that buy asking someone to put the car in gear while you open up the hood and try and hear if it is that.. If it's not, then it's definetly one of two. Either your catalytic converter heat shield which is located in the middle of the car, and has a light metal sheet around the top of it. Or your Cat is broken inside..

Try to isolate the problem, for the cat you should have the car on a hoist or just jack it up and try and hear if it's from the cat area...

Good luck and tell us how it comes along...

26redtred do you have a flex down pipe? The one that has a mesh going down from your exhaust manifold?
