Fix To Intermittant Starting Problem On 05 Corolla

My dealer has just informed me that after 385 starts on a 05 Corolla hooked up to lots of sensors, TAS has finally found out what is going on with our cars!!! When you shut off your car, sometimes some of the exhaust valves will stay open, therefore causing exhaust gases to leak back into the engine. When you go to start the car back up, it will then take an extra few seconds for that exhaust gas to be pumped back out, so the engine can fire. That is why it only happends the odd time, and when you least expect it! They are now working on a flash for the computer on the cars, and they will inform me when they have a new program for the ECU. I will keep you posted!!!

All car valves shut off in different positions and at crank only take a split second to get back to normal starting.......Radd guy...

I was just gonna say the same thing as radd. HEhehe having them all close up would mean that you have no camshaft or the lobes are pointing at one direction. Oh and when you do shut off the engine, exhaust gasses arent some sort of goo, that flow back to the cylinders and stay there. They mix with ambient air and pretty much get released to the atmosphere. I think the starting issue, whilst some people may call it an issue, I think its just normal, is more related to the fuel injection.
