Straight-thru = loud

I have a ractive on one of my cars and its LOUD! specially on the highway. City driving is loud but bearable.

would it still sound loud even though the muffler has a 2.25 outlet?

depends on how the can is made... from experience, most straight through mufflers are loud.

also helps to change the midpipe muffler/resonator to a longer bigger one.

I have a skunk2 exhaust sytem 2.25" straight piping. Pretty loud. it came with a silencer but i never use it. I like it loud. After a while you will get use to the differnce in miffler sound kin of like how i got use to my subs.Had i for 2 years never got pulled over for it. Loudness not for everyone tho. For performance do your catback or just for style just a muffler. That Ractive M 252 seems like a cheap muffler

could i use a larger stock muffler from another car? wouldn't it flow better and be quiet at the same time?

if the inner diameter of the pipes are bigger it will flow better. just don't go too big.
