well, lotsa stuff can be done to achieve more horsepower, but they all involve $$$, it just depends how deep is your pocket and how far you're willing to go.

i've had a 00 celica gt(same motor, i think) 5 years ago. at that time i myself was in need for power, but found that this motor did not produce much improvement with simple bolt ons. i bought a injen cold air when it first came out at the car show. than a trd exhaust. with both these mods. it seems louder which easily gives you a false impression that your going faster but it really didn't seem to be any faster at all since i raced another gt bone stock and we were exactly the same. Also found that most who dynoed this combo on newcelica.org got only 2-3 hp. i would say you should save all your money. don't even use a cent on anything and buy the supercharger. i ended up selling my car and getting a gsr after 2 yrs of waiting for a turbo or supercharger. Trd is a dissapointment since they took soo damn long.

Supercharger will set you back around $1800 (pretty sure that's the going price nowadays) + labor if you don't want to do it yourself. 170HP at the crank, probably around 155HP on the dyno. It'll be by TRD and if you get the dealership to install it, you'll maintain warranty. Stock, the 04 Corolla has 130HP at the crank, so a 40HP increase could be what you need.

with an intake and exhaust combo, that should put you just over 140 (to the flywheel)

Tons of 9th gen info over at www.9thgencorolla.com also.
