I'm looking at buying a 2005 S but I don't really care for the bumper and side mouldings that they stick on the S models. Can these be removed without messing up the paint? Are these held on with screws or what?

Why not just buy a LE or CE then ..Thats what your car will look like after you dismantle the trim, same car same engine and you can buy the S logo on ebay ...Anyways everything is attatched with easy to remove clips and screws if thats the way you want to go...Good luck with your adventure...Radd Guy...

Thanks for the reply.
I just like the clean lines of the LE but not the interior. I much prefer the charcoal seats and black on white insturment panels of the S model. This also has the value package, Alum. wheels, power windows and locks, spoiler and the other good stuff with 5 speed manual tranny.
They all can be removed quite safely. I do believe however the rear bumper lips do have clips on them on the bottom side of the bumper. If you do remove the rear lips, you won't really notice the holes on the bottom of the bumper.
Side skirts are also clipped on, but won't be noticed if you remove them. If by side moldings you mean the things on the door that protect you from other cars hitting you, yes you can remove those also, I did today and my car looks a lot classier.
I think the S looks the best in terms of interior compared to the CE, LE, and even the XRS (Silver and dual color seats aren't my thing).

Actually I was just refering to the skirting around the bumpers and below the doors I never thought about how it would look without the door guards. I would like to see pics of that.
When I was looking at the Corolla's on the lot there was an LE and an S model setting next to each other they were the same color and both had spoilers. I just thought the LE exterior looked better (looks kinda like the Camry SE) and was wondering if I could pull the skirting off without ending up with holes in the body. The only other thing is that they have the mudguards integrated into the trim peices, I wonder how much rear factory mudguards would cost? I thought about seeing if the dealer's body shop would just swap them out even as part of the deal.
Thanks!

When you're about to close the deal, ask them to throw in some mudguards. They'll most likely take it from a floor car and slap them on.
When I was in an accident, my rear lips came off and there were holes that popped them in to hold them in place. As well as adhesive. They aren't noticable. Now that I think of it, I can't remember if they were holes or just a clip that clips on the edge of the bumper.
Normally people get the S for the side skirts and rear and front lips. I think they look pretty nice. However, if you did want to remove them, it probably wouldn't be that hard, and the holes wouldn't be that noticable. You're going to have to remove MAJOR amounts of adhesive and it isn't too fun.
Most higher end cars don't have the side moldings. But people like them because it protects them from those scratches from other drivers. I park in isolated spots so I figure I'll be okay.

Side moldings look good if their color cordinated as in the pic...IMHO...Nice car...But...no foglights just two holes, no alloys?...RENRAW unless you get a great deal why not just wait till the 06's come out later this year you might just like it.....Radd Guy...
Actually, that's not my car, my car is a Silver 05, that's an 03. Mine are color cordinated with my car and I still removed them. It looks a bit sleeker to me, but it's all up to opinion.
This is my car.
I read on the other forums that the 2006 model is an exact rollover and the 2007 model will be the redesigned one. Someone know if this is true?

I was thinking about that, I think the 06's will start showing up in a coupla months. It looks to me as though the discount I 'm actually getting is around $500. but I loose a model year. They are offering me a Super White "S" with the Extra Value Package and 5 peice Floormats and manual tranny for 14,900 out the door before taxes.
NRM,
I was told the same thing buy my sales person that 07 is when we'll see a model change.
I think I like the no door guard look, very elegant.
Thanks!

Do any of you guys know where you can find cool aftermarket skirts or fron bumper for the 2005's. I have been unsuccesful and getting them custom made would be pricy. Ideas?

Any skirts you find for 03/04 should fit. The problem is with the bumpers. The 05 was given a facelift from the previous years and some things were changed around a bit. If you swap out the whole bumper, then you'll find a fit, but otherwise, there just isn't much aftermarket for us. Hell, no one even makes grills for us.
Thanks for the reply.

You can have those options on the LE as well. You can just ask them for dark interior and to put on a spoiler, plus you also have a selection of getting it with stock rims (15"). The instrument panel that I have glows white (stock) with red numberings. So not only the S model has that.
BTW no difference in hp either, all CE, LE, S models have the same engine and same hp.
If you want to go with your approach, you can take the moldings off and not damage your paint. The moldings sit on screws (from the bottom, not visible on the sides), clips and double sided tape. I wouldn't know exactly, but the paint underneath the moldings could be slightly darker or lighter depending on how long the car has been in the open (outside); but that does not always happen.

Check EBay, they got full body kits for about $400.

That's not an '03 model in your pic. The '03 has different front molding, less square, and the grill is different 2, so are the headlights (an '05 model has blacked out housing).
