They have some Corolla pulleys, search around their site. I have no expierence with these people, and I'm not telling you to get a pulley, but here's a place that may have one!
Was that answer directed to me, if it was may I remind you that I am a motorsports techie.
An unbalanced crank wont actually flex under load, it will start to chatter, eat out the bearings and kill the oilpump, cranks flex when you dont have enough bearings on them.
Most 4 cyl engines have 5. I've seen some with 3, I've seen a 4A-GE crank broken in two.
Yeah, I didn't know how deep your habit went. LOL
OK technically you are right that the crank doesnt flex, although it does try to and that is why it chatters. So- how many bearings does a 4a-f have? How strong are they? I am curious about how tough the bottom end of this motor is and you seem to be pretty knowledgeable about it.

5 bearings, the block of the 4A-F is the same strength as the later version 4A-GE (7-rib block).
Crank has 6 bolts for the flywheel, I *think* there was a 4A-GE with 6 bolt flywheel on one of the earlier versions and afaik TODA has one model.. The bottom end isnt that big of an issue, atleast I'm not worried to run boost on it, the piston pins are slightly thinner and the conn. rods smaller than the later version 4A-FE and 4A-GE, we shall see if it is to be a problem, doubtful.
yeah, maybe but you gain so little for the cost of them damn things, its ridiculous.
Heck I couldnt care less, I just dial more boost
Yeah, OK wiseass you dial on some more boost and maybe, just maybe you'll get to see my NA camaro's taillights for just a couple of extra seconds!
OK, sorry that was a low blow, especially on a toyota forum. ActuallyI looked at some prices, along with the process of installation and you are right- the damn pulley is just not worth it unless you are building the motor from the ground up and if so why build a 4a-f?
Oh I have no doubt a 350ci camaro would hand me my ass.
Heck, when I have enough money, I'm getting american muscle, but theres so many toys which would be cool, and so little finance.
Cool thing about american cars is that you can get parts quite cheap from jegs, etc and get some serious oomph. But I'd like to have a blower on it too

because its different, I just think the 4A-GE is overrated by alot compared to other toyo engines.
yeah, I suppose in Finland big raw american muscle might be the expensive, exotic way to go but here its the cheapo thing to do. Anybody who knows a lug wrench from a vacuum advance can pick up a 1988-90 camoro RS with 305 fuel injected V8 for $1500, drop in a freshly built 350 with junkyard corvette heads, a hot cam and voila- $3000 love rocket from hell with at least 400 horsepower/ 400 ft pounds of raw, oh-god-i-think-i'm- gonna-die torque.
But these days if you really want respect, build a little four cylinder toyota or honda that can beat that camaro in the quarter mile.
By the way, that '69 Z28 is indeed sex on wheels. Yum.
Does the 4A-F underdrive pulley really exist? I have searched around on the internet and I have found some sites talking about them but they never seem to tell me where I can order one!! I have even heard someone mention it on the forum but I can't seem to find the post anymore!! Does anyone know where I can get my hands on one? Would the 4A-GE underdrive pulley work on a 4A-F? Thanks for any help!!
Sorry, but I got tired of reading all the replies arguing the topic back and forth, so forgive me if this reply is late or no longer useful, but here is a link for you... www.NonStopTuning.com
