Silverstars on 1992 Corolla

OK, I did a search on this subject and I got some good info, but I still have one question. My forum search indicated that I needed the 9005 Silverstars for the high beam and the 9006 Silverstars for the low beam for my 92 Corolla, but then I read later where some folks are modyfying the low beam light socket to accept the 9005s, but they didn't say why? Am I right that the 9005s fit the high beam and the 9006s fit the low beam or am I missing something here?

I assume the wiring harness I have will accept the lights I mentioned above, but why would I or should I consider modyfying the light socket to accept the different bulb?

For better/brighter lightning most likely. Its the reason I dropped the sealed beam headlights and got an H4 headlight conversion for my car. That and the diamond cut housing looked cooler.

You can modify the bulb instead, just look at both the bulbs next to eachother. You need to file down the top part of the 9005 and solder or cut out the two guides inside of the bulb's socket. I've done it with Silverstars. Increase of 700 lumens. More noticible for some than others. If you're going from stock, it'll make a big difference. If you're going from 9006 Silverstars to 9005 Silverstars, it'll just make the light brighter and whiter. You're still going to be aiming at the floor.

92 sedan use 9007 dual beam bulb. GTS/SR5 use 6??? seal beam. They both use same bulb for high/low beam. You got Levin frontend?

9007 dual beam bulb. OK, I didn't know that, but thanks for telling me.

Now tell me what exactly is a Levin frontend? I'm new to Toyota's so bear with me....

First find the user manual and it'll list all the bulbs.

I did that and it says that my car uses a 9004 65/45 W bulb and not a 9007 bulb.
