2005 Corolla 6 CD radio info

I want to install this for my IPOD.http://www.theistore.com/ipod2car.html# Is the radio hard to remove? DO I need any special tools? Also, has anyone else installed one of these things? If so what harness do I need to get? Thanks lpapagno

I just checked out crutchfield.com for new radios for my 2005 LE, they have a very nice dash kit that does not require any cutting and allows a standard size radio to put in the dash pretty quickly.

Dash kits work great and they're pretty standard and easy to work with.

Sorry for the lack of a better picture, but that's the dash kit they will send you from crutchfield. The radio is not hard to remove, next time you get into your car, look at the center AC knob, I believe it is the OFF / LOW / HIGH knob, and pull it out. There'll be a screw. At the shifter base is the black plastic thing, that thing just pops off when you grab it by the edge. At the bottom of the dash panel is two more screws, pop those off and your whole dash is ready.

Get a socket wrench and loosen four nuts and the radio will be ready to remove.

There's actually a DIY floating around, maybe someone will post it.

Hey Everyone,

I am hoping someone can help me! I have a 2005 Corolla with a 6 cd in dash radio. I purchased an ipod and a connector that attaches to the 12-pin cd changer plug on the back of the radio. I need to remove the radio to do this and I have no idea how to. I don't want to break anything! Can someome please help me!

Wow..umm...you may want to take a quick glance just to see if, by chance, someone posted an almost identical question yesterday!

I plan on buying from crutchfield in the next week or so and use their kit with a radio I buy from them, the gold told me it's a piece of cake.

HOWEVER, changing speakers is not!

I received the Peripheral Electronics' iPod2Car adapter kit for Christmas (thank you Santa) - the adapter: PXDPC2 and the harness cable, PXDXC2 (which includes two cables, one labelled Toyota the other Honda). I've been scouring the net trying to find a way to install this - or at the very least remove the head unit from my 2005 Corolla CE. It's the basic factory unit.

Someone mentioned that it may not even have an AUX input on the back because I don't have a CD changer in the car. I'm not sure if this is true or not.

I'm a little remiss in taking it to Future Shop (where the adapter kit was purchased) and letting them do it. I'd like to find some simplistic steps and try doing it myself.

I'd appreciate any insight you can give me. Thanks!

I read somewhere on a Crutchfield review that one person was able to reach in behind the radio via the glovebox to plug in his adapter. I sure hope that is the case, I have my new harness and my PAC Aux2Car ready to be installed in my '05 Corolla.

Yeah, I have been trying to figure out how to remove the stereo to. I went to my local Toyota dealer and asked them if they would install the kit for me and they said no. I spent four hours trying to get it out with no luck. Unless you have tooth picks for arms there’s no way your reaching the back of the stereo through the glove box.

Wow, that site has the most awful wiring I've ever seen! I do appreciate his pictures, though, so it's not all bad.

Anyway, I was sucessfully able to put my Aux2Car in my Corolla this weekend. Reaching in behind the glovebox didn't work, but removing the glove box did help to route the wires and mount the box.
