Oil Pressure Gauge

Hello, i realize that i am supposed to introduce myself in the intro forum but I'll do it here instead. I own a '94 Toyota Corolla with the 4a-fe engine, with no real significant modifications.

Anyways I'm interested in installing an oil pressure gauge but am unsure how to do it. I would prefer to get an electrical one because it is less work? I would like to know where the oil pressure sender unit is because i want to install it there. If anyone can help thanks

not sure if its the same as the 4AGE, but the oil pressure sending unit is at the block, near the oil filter and the a/c compressor and powersteering pump. its usually a black wire shroud travelling from the block up towards the head.

what we did when we installed on in my car was to add t-fitting so we could still use the OEM oil pressure sending unit along with the one for the gauge.

the 4afe has them in the same location..... you could use one from a 4age, but then you would need a toyota gauge setup.... not sure how you would do that into a sedan... in an sr5 it swaps right in......

Installing an electric oil pressure guage is pretty easy. I just did it the other day on my car. I just unscrewed the factory oil pressure sender on the block and screwed in the sensor that cam with the guage (greddy) there was few wires to connect, ground, power, lid but overall the hard part was actually mounting it.

I looked on the block and i found a small wiring shroud beside the oil filter but it looks like it leads back towards the alternator. Is this the sender unit that i have been looking for or is i something else?

look right under the exhaust manifold. if you are facing the engine then it would be more to the left of the block, to the right of the alternator and to the left of the oil filter if am not mistaken. its not hard to recognize at all.

the fun never ends. Anyways, I pulled the sender unit out and I bought a few adapters needed for the install and the threads don't match Any ideas on what kind of thread the sending unit has? The gauge came with 1/8" NPT stuff and the crap i bought doesnt fit the block threads. Thanks
