Seat belt light blinks at "wrong" times.

I got a 99 Corolla and it recently developed this odd thing.

The seat warning belt light will flash when the belt is OK and won't when it is not buckled. Sometimes I can make it stop when I move the belt very slowly but it will stay on once it is buckled. Also I have not had any seat belt warning buzzer for a while.

No big problem just annoying as heck.

Ideas ?

George

take the instrument cluster out and pull the seat belt bulb out, thats what I did and I love it now.

I would be glad any buzzer stopped working, I hate those things.

SOunds like a problem inthe latch part it self. THere is a switch in the latch and it sounds like it may be bad or going bad. Maybe something sp[illed in it also.

Thanks. If I pull the belt out two feet the light goes off. I think there is a switch behind the plastic by the belt. I'll pull it out to check. Geo
