Maintenence required light on

It seemed it went on after I got gas.
I took off the gas cap and put it back on.
Light still on.
Engine running perfect.
Any ideas?

It takes a little while to clear after you retighten it.

But if you're worried, you can go get your codes read at Autozone.

my light is on because of this same problem.. after a few cycles.. it will go away.. if you are really really uneasy about it.. unhook the negative cable from the battery and rehook after 10 seconds.. the light should be off .. just remember to click the cap atleast 5 times

I don't know if unhooking the battery will cause a problem with the remote start set up.

It seems it has something to do with the gas cap as I believe the light came on after a fillup. So maybe there's nothing important wrong.I'll wait a couple of days and see if it goes off.

"click the cap 5 times"
You got me on that one.

Maybe I'll give the dealer service dept a call this morning.

Thanks for the help,guys.

That light is mainly there to remind you of oil changes. If it is not reset before thecar reaches 5000 miles it will come on. Depending on when your last oil change was they might not have reset it. Check your owners manul there should be a short section on how to do this. All you have to do is push your trip meter button untill its reading odometer, turn the car off, push and hold the trip meter button and then while holding the button turn the car on but don't start it. keep holing the button until the light goes out. It will come back on in 5000 miles unless its reset agai. No need to disconnect your battery. Now, if your check engine light comes on, thats a different story.

True.
The dealer changed the oil at 900( a freebie) on my request.
So the light came on almost if not exactly 5000 miles later.
I changed the oil and filter myself at 5200 and went with Mobil 1.
I started another thread on the reset procedure.
I wish nI would have seen your post a hour sooner.
Thanks for your post.

On snaps, MAINT REQ, not check engine.

Yeah, upgraded is right. It is to get an oil change. You would have had to reset the MAINT REQ after the oil change anyways, it doesn't automatically turn off.
