Maintenence required light reset on my '05

As per my other thread the Maintenence required light came on.
It came on coincedentally after a fuel fill up.
I called Toyota this morning and the service ask's says what's your mileage.
I tell him 5900 miles.
He says the MR light will come on at around 5-6K miles to remind me of the need for an oil change.
I do my own changes and changed the oil 600 miles ago.
He said bring it in and they'll reset the MR light.
I call my local mechanic and he says come down and he'll reset it.
I just came back from my mechanic.
All he did was turn the key to the on position, push down on the odometer reset for about 10 seconds and the light is off.

We should have a new forum category: "Car Hacks" for tricks like this.
