Exclamation 88' Rolla, is the guage console detacheable??

I was opened up the guage console on my freinds 88 rolla to see what bulbs he has back there and replace em' with LEDs but after unscrewing all the dash parts , I can't pull the whole guage cluster out.
I looked at the back of the guage console itself and saw a thick fat wire connected to the guage console. I dunno if I can/ should pull it out of the guage cluster. It's really hard cause the console is only coming out a little bit. Anyone been back there? Is the whole guage detacheable????????

It should be detachable. I pulled apart the gauge cluster on my 88 FX and had no problem whatsoever getting to the bulbs. Make sure you check for other small screws or other pieces that might be causing you to have trouble during disassembly. It should not be sticking like that. At least mine didn't. One thing you might try is to detach the steering column from under the dash and drop the steering wheel to be able to get at it a little easier.

The thick fat wire is the speedo cable.. just unplug it and the console should come out
