Re: 2002 Corolla five-speed Dyno results before/after cai
Everybody with the civic hating ... bandwagon jumpers. Anything to boost your own egos, eh? I'd love see to see one of you come out to shannonville and use you almighty "torque" advantage and take out every single civic there. :roll: A 6th gen stock SiR would rape you both and leave you crying home to mama.
btw, the new SiR:
Torque (lb.-ft. @ rpm) 132 @ 5000
:o There's nothing wrong with being enthusiastic about my corolla and how it rules. That's what this site is about right? I mean, this is the corolla zone for Christs sake, where else can I talk about how they rule. Besides I didn't really talk shit, just posted some facts. (some very usefull facts I might ad.)
And anyway the SiR is not a fair comparison to a corolla. Try comparing it to a Corolla T-Sport or something. I was comparing base engine to base engine. More torque AND better gas mileage on the Corolla. I didn't say it was faster (it is), I was focusing on the efficiency of the Corolla, which is unmatched in the compact sedan market for the best blend of fuel efficiency and power as far as I'm concerned.
BTW I think the civic is nice. I drove my ex's 2000 Civic hatch and it handels a little better and has a slicker 5-speed than my 2001 Corolla, however, the interior quality, fit and finnish, road noise, engine smoothness, and other features were better on the corolla, which does cost more.... For a fater compact I really like that new Civic Si with the cool five speed that's mounted up on the dash 8)
The bottom line is that most of this stuff is very subjective but here in the corolla zone, voicing my subjective opinion about corollas is the thing to do.
Finially there is no evidence of me ever bashing Civics or jumping on any kind of bandwagon here and I take offense (only half seriously) to the comment that I would mindlessly bash something to boost my own ego. :roll: Lastly, if you do wan't an ego-booster, owning a corolla doesn't really help in that department. :cry: I think I would be better of with a bright red ZO6 there :P :P
OK, maybe I was a bit harsh on you. I've seen too many people just bash civics left right and center. Sure, civic owners have earned a pretty bad rep. Even I get annoyed at some of the people driving around in them. But I still love my civic. Maybe when you said "weak-ass civic" I took it a little hard.
Mostly, I'm just trying to promote an acceptance of all cars. Fact of the matter is, there's always some differences that can never make for a fair comparison. For instance, the 1ZZFE is a 1.8ltr dual cam and a stock Civic non-SiR is a 1.6 single cam for the 5th and 6th gen.
On another note, I've also seen people come on here and start bashing Corollas. I would defend the Corolla the same way I defended the Civic. Both these cars have a long lineage and there's a reason why they continue to sell with every generation.
Corolla fact of the day:
The Corolla is the most sold car model in the world ever.(The VW Beatle is second)
8)
P.S. HEY. my original post was changed WTF?! That's total bullshit. I just said that base Corollas put more torque to the ground than base Civics do to the flywheel. WTF is wrong with that? It's called a simple indisputable fact.... No controversy there people.... Censorship realy Pisses me off!
And the other reply was removed... what gives? Is this the NAZI Zone now??
Not saying you did, could be a glitch, or Lafora...
It's just that my post was missing the last sentance after being up for a few days, and the first response by I think 91camrydx (white camry) was deleted also. :-? See P.S. on my post that starts "well said" for original description of censor/malfunction/leprechans/or whatever happened. maybe someone could clue me in...
~~~but never-the-less, TN is taking on a new personna, and we are no longer tolerating any kind of flaming, hating on other members, be it newbie or otherwise, and we want to remain focused on welcoming, conversing and educating other memebers, and just if they are new to this board, doesn't mean they are new to cars. Just as much as we put into it, we hope to get some knowledge shared with us, also.~~~
so if your post pretty much abided to this outline, there should be no reason it was modded.
from now on, if any future posts are edited by the mods, we will leave an edit saying it was modded and why.
Cool, I gues I did use the phrase "weak ass civics" when comparing them to corollas, so maybe that was construed as hating, especially after ek-9 over-reacted
I will refrain from such needless put-downism for the sake of propping up Corollas. I can expound on the Tao of Corolla w/ out doing that
I was wondering where my post went. I don't remember what I said, but I don't believe it was anything vulgar or profane so I wonder why it was deleted.
yeah, I was wonering about that too. I would think that it would do better with no filter because of less restriction... I mean that's why a K&N is suposed to be better than a stock filter, because of less restriction right?
And isn't it dangerous to run w/ out a filter? What if a moth or some shit got sucked up there :-?
Can someone clue us in here? Maybe I should ask them over at C-Three Racing because they did the set-up and testing...
