Belt problem, need help

My belts make a loud screech when i turn on the car, the idle would be high, like 1400 rpms, after a while, it would go back to normal and no more noise, the belts make a loud noise when i turn the steering wheel all the way or closly all the way also, it seems to run fine after a while, but if i go in first gear and run it to around the 5000 rpms area, my belts would start making loud noises again, even when i slowed down to normal idle. Whats wrong with my car?? any help would be appreciated, thanks.

^^^ agree with the belts slipping. Time to either tighten them or replace them.

Yeah, belts are slippping. Why does it come and go? When you run the car a while the rubber belts warm up and shrink a bit (opposite to what metal does when it gets warm) so then they stop slipping. When you rev. it up to 5000 the pulley is spinning so fast the belt's marginal grip by friction is too little, and maybe it's being spun off a bit by centripetal force going around so fast so it loses contact with the pulley, so it slips again. When the belt slips it can get polished so even when you drop down the revs. it's too smooth to get a grip on the pulley and continues to slip.

hey guys, thanks for replying, there is a lose screw under my alternator, my power steering and a/c belts seem to be working fine, but i think its my alternator belt thats slipping. The lose screw im talking about is right under the alternator and when i tried to tighten it, it wont screw in tight all the way, whats this bolt for? how can i fix it? becuz like i said before, it wont stay tight.

I attached a picture for a better understanding, its the screw right under the alternator, any advice on what to do what be appreciated, thanks.

And is it possible that i have a leak on the belts?

get a new bolt from your local auto parts store. that is the adjustment bolt, without it your belts will squeak till they slip off.

Yeah, have the bolt replaced, the alternator needs to TIGHTEN the belt. Also if you got oil on the belt, replace the belt, the oil aint going nowhere from it, its just gonna slip more in the future.
