battery & break light problem

I have an ae92 sr5, and the problem is every time i start the car for the first time in the day, or make a turn or go over a bump the battery and break light come on. sometimes for a couple of seconds or the next time i hit a bump or turn. i checked the battey wires to make sure there tight and i checked the handbrake. i checked the battery, the alternator, the cables to connect the alternator from, the handbrake cable which i thought i was but made it worst! but it still happens. So now i'm out of ideas. if you guys can think of anything else just let me know. I think i'm the first to have this problem cuz nobody has heard of this! . thanks again. CanadaGTS (adriaan)

When I had my AE86 I had the exact same problem. It doesn't effect how the car drives, it's just annoying hehe. I couldn't figure it out either, I brought it to my mechanic to take a look and his guess was as good as yours. Probably the alternator....

Did you check the battery to chassis ground?

YOUR ALTERNATOR IS NOT PUTTING OUT ENOUGH CHARGE>

the brushes inside are worn too much, they put out enough charge for a little while but not 100% of the time.
unless you like being stranded, get this looked at AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

i am 100% in this reply.

well i when today to check everything. I went to my usualy garage and the battery is good and holding the charge, then i when to an alternator new and rebuild shop they checked it they said the alternator is like brand new hardly and wear or tear. then i check the battery ground that was good. changed the battery poles, checked all the wires for the alternator, there all good no rips or cuts. checked all the fues. made sure everything was back tand in tight. so now when i install it back the same problem again but now the oil light comes on when i break! the oil gauge is full, there is new oil in it the connection is good also the wires. so now i've had it! my car is starting to look like that new saturn commerial i just waitiing for the new car light to should up! i'm thing it could be a faulty reading coming from the circitboard on the dashboard. if worst comes to worst i'm just gonna pull out the bulbs from the dash and hope for the best. This problem made my friday night suck! cuz my date just made fun of my toyota and said that i should have gotten a honda cuz there better! i was so so mad! last time i see her again. anyways got to get the problem fixed any new ideas just let me know please. if possible does any one have the electric wire diagram for my type of car? if u do just email it to me at TNTfyah@hotmail.com thanks again.

I've had the same problem with my AE92 SR5, I used to have all the lights on the dash light up after I hit a bump or take a hard turn. It took me a really long time to figure out what it was since everytime I open the hood everything looked normal!

After a while i relaized that my battery wasn't secure. So, make sure that your batter is night and tight, there cars don't have great support for the battery, I used a rubber tie with two hooks (from Canadian Tire), ;the one truckers use to keep things from sliding around in the trailer; to keep the battery from sliding around.

After I noticed that my terminals were really damaged because of twisting and pulling that happened when the battery was sliding around, so I changed the terminals. Make sure you clean the terminals on the battery and the + and - wires useing a wire brush before you put them back, and make sure they're very nice and tight. I have no problems with the battery now, infact it's the least of my worries.

but trust me, I know how frustrated you are when you don't know what's wrong..

Good luck and give us a feedback...

battery & break light problem update!

well the problem is less now, i changed the ground cables to new heavy duty ones. changed the battery wires and the terminals. clean the oil pin sensor. changed the connecters to the alterantor and the old sensor. battery and alernator are new and all secured. but now ever so often when the battery and break light light up all the lights in the car get dim. and the oil light only comes on when the idel goes under 1000 rpm when it feel like it. well still looking for the cause of it. just give an you guys an update. i'm thinking it a ground wire or wires touching in the big cable of other wires. that goes into the car.
