Did you mean a stock tach, or an aftermarket one?

I'm thinking of getting a tachometer for my 96 manual Corolla, so I need help, too.

My brother & I just put one in his 89 corolla and we just looked for the wire coming out of the distributor/ignitor and followed it to the plug. i ripped the tube open a little and tapped into the black wire (not the black and orange) with the tach signal wire (green) from my tach, fished it through the firewall next to the throttle cable and we mounted it on the A pillar. if yours is different let me know, my uncle has a 97 geo prizm (same as corolla) and i'll ask if i can look at his.
