Hi, Leo!

I had a 2000 LE at one time. I had a set of Tokico HPs (blues) that were quite nice for my spirited street driving. They were noticeably firmer than stock, but that was also a factor of the TRD springs I had on the car. All in all, the ride was well-controlled, not harsh, and I was quite pleased, as I disliked the stock (mushy) ride and handling. I have had positive experiences with KYB GR-2s also, but those were on my AE82s. If you're not a speed freak, you'll do fine with the Tokicos.

Regards,

Craig

Hi Leo,

you have endless possibilities with your rolla. You can opt for adjustable struts (not coilovers) so if you want to have a stiffer ride, turn the knob a few clikcs and you have a stiff ride. for daily use, you can switch it back to a more moderate ride. bottomline is, you can have the best of both worlds. just complement it with a good set of springs and you'll have lotsa fun with your ride.

I have tokico blues and tein S springs..

unlike what I heard from other boards, I don't find it too harsh

KYB would be closest to stock, but a bit firmer..

Koni is adjustable .. but $$$

I'd say KYB, firmer than stock and not as expensive as Tokicos or Konis

Bilstein for OEM ride

Just replaced the struts on my '98 with Bilstein. Look around on the web you should find them around 50-60$ each shipped. They are very good German made shocks and will last forever because of the way they do thier valving. They are close to OEM rates so if you go with lowered springs they will be a bit bouncy.
I bought KYB upper mounts since they are exact copies but probably didn't need to, the old ones were in great shape. I like the KYB shock boots/bump stops since they cover whole rod. Again, the old ones were just fine. The old springs had sagged out so they needed replacing. The old shocks were just barely starting to be a bit soft.
I didn't replace the sway bar links, they are really expensive for what you get. Make sure they are really worn out before getting another set.
