what oil do you use?

i heard 10w-40 is good all season, but normally, you'd want thinner oil during the winter and thicker oil during the summer, right? like 10w-30 in the summer and like 5w-30 during the winter? right now, i have 10w-30 in my engine, what about you guys?

What about the newer models? Mine is 2005 Corolla and dealer asked to put 5W-30 both in summer and winter.

I talked to a good mechanic I know and he advised that 5W-30 can be used in winter or summer for the first 5 years. After that - 10W-30 should be used

However, I'm using full synthetic 5W-30 for now

Mobil 1 5w30 in the colder months and Mobil 1 10w30 in the warmer months.
Also use a Wix/Napa Gold oil filter.

Whatever the Toyota dealers use as I have gone back to the dealership for oil changes.. I used to go to Mr Lube before but after my leaky oil filter incident 3 times in a row, I don't go there anymore. They used to put in Castrol GTX 10w30 but Toyota uses 5w30 for all cars.

Penrite HPR10 (10w30) Semi Synthetic in my 20v.

Used to use Castrol GTX3 10w30 in my FE, but that was mainly because it started on that and my old rally car used to be sponsored by Castrol.

I use 5w-30 all year. I do my homemade synthetic blend because you have no way to know how much synthetic is in synthetic blend off the shelf.

1 quart mobil 1
3 quarts standard mobil

If I start burning oil, I'll switch to a 10w-30 in summer.
