Try this.. My car used to go from 1000-1500 up and down up and down everytime I would come to a stop or at idle. This happened first when I got my thermostat and radiator replaced, and again after I got the throttle cleaned out at Mr Lube, this is how I finally got rid of the problem:

Find your idle adjuster screw, raise the RPMs on the car by going counter-clockwise until the RPMs finally stay at a steady 1500rpm for example. Wait about 5-10 seconds, then move the idle screw clockwise until the RPMs drop to about 900-1000 RPM and this will do the trick.

If this doesn't work, then you might have a different problem.

The Idle Control Valve Is Probably Going Bad, I Recommed Check For Any Air Leaks And Coolant Level, Termostat But Im Pretty Sure That It Could Be The Idle Valve
