Hello everyone...I was wondering if anyone has a comprehensive list of what parts/electronics need to be changed to convert a AE86 SR-5 (carbureted) to a GT-S 16valve(EFI). Also, does anyone know how much it would cost approximately? I understand that it's going to cost about the same as a 20valve, but I don't want to deal with illegal smog. I wonder if there is a shop that would do a legit conversion too. Sorry for asking so many questions. I'm still a newbie in the world of cars.
I did the swap on a ae92...shouldn't have too much difference.
Swap costed me 600$ CAD for now.
Just needs the engine, tranny, axles, engine wiring and dash wiring, ECU
But for that price maybe I would rather look for a GTS and have 2 ae86!

i doubt you've done a whole conversion....... sr5's have drums in the rear, lack of a front swaybar, lack of a front strutbar, different fuel pumps, different interiors, lack the sideskirts, lack the rear spoiler & 3rd brake light, lacks a C52 tranny, lacks serviceable struts, has different gauges, lacks a voltmeter & oil pressure gauge...... & on and on

well for your information I've done the C52 tranny, axles, engine, clusters, volt/oil meters, I have the rear disk brakes, front GTZ twin pistons brakes. I have the front strut bar and front serviceable strut is soon to come. Wing is useless since it's not an airplace I'm building. Sideskirts are already primed and ready to be putted. Interior...except for the seats that are gonna be replaced I don't see much difference. I'm not gonna change the steering since I'm removing power steering it would be stupid to change for the variable assistance. Front sway bar I'm gonna go with something a bit bigger than oem GTS.
O yeah, I got the Ac button but removed the Ac compressor and other shits...no need for AC and it's wiegth for nothing.
Also putting some 15x6 inches polished wheels from a Asuna Sunfire 93
still in doubt toyotaspeed90?
ok... well.... a GTS still does have a spoiler..... you will need more than just the swaybar (you will need the endlinks, control arms, brackets, and bushings....).... the GTS doesn't have a 3rd brakelight in the rear dash..... not all GTS's come with a/c so i'm not sure why you put that in there......
i'm not in doubt.... but i'm just saying you haven't done a complete gts to sr5 conversion for $600.... cad or usd..... and you've proved me right
and in case you think i'm just being a dick or something.... i'm in the middle of the same thing.... i've done motor/tranny (axles are essentially the same) and added 20V itb's to my smallport (running map), sideskirts, gauges (all), have a GTS spoiler & trunklid, have done the GTZ front swaybar setup (1mm larger than US gts... it's actually too large).... done aftermarket struts & springs (so that's negligable), GTS strutbrace, GTS coil (runs better than with MSD parts), done aftermarket exhaust so that's negligable as well..... probably gonna go with stand alone in the car here soon....... and then there's my mr2 which shows up the corolla easily (oh, and for the JDM'ness.... motor/strutbrace/swaybar are from japan, and the silvia S13 headlaights and bomex front grille are also form japan.... lol)

anyway, I'm awhere of the cmplete front setup...but I still gotta finish the brake upgrades and engine!:P And I don't have an MR2...my daily driver is just a Lancer OZ 2005!
Maybe some day I'll have a nice mk1 MR2
