Do NOT use purple power or any purple equivilent as it will be very ugly afterwards.

Simple Green or any degreaser would be your best bet.

while it is off you might as well change it they are not expensive parts. i used 2+2 to clean my vavle cover and scrubed it with a tooth brush to get to the hard parts. better to change the gasket now then to have to pull everthing off later

Go To Auto Part Store And Get Brake Cleaner, This Is A Cleaner That Will Clean Well And Leave No Residue Because It Drys By It Self, It's A Can, Now To Removeds All You Need Is A10mm And A Set Of Pliers And A Big Screwdriver To Help Pull It Out, Be Careful That When You Pry To Removed Do Not Brake Any Sensors

THE CLEANER ONLY COST LIKE 1 OR 2 DOLLARS AND WITH TWO CANS OYU SHOULD BE FINE, ALOS YES IS A GOOD IDEA TO REPLACED THE GASKET IF IT FEELS HARD, IF YOU REPLACE THE GASKET, PUT A LITTLE BIT OF SILYCONE IN THE CAMSHAFT CAP THE OUTER ONES, THIS WILL PREVENT THE CAR FROM LEAKING IN THE SHARP CORNERS
