hey can anyone tell me what metal was used to make the 1.6L 4A-FE? is it cast iron or is it aluminum?

i think its cast iron block and aluminum head... toyota starts using aluminum block and head on corolla in 98 w/ the 1ZZ-FE

The 4A-FE's use a Cast Iron block and an Alluminium Alloy block.

Actually, they started using these on the precursor to the ZZE's - The 20v Silver and Blacktop. Both use a Cast Alloy block and an Alluminum Alloy head.

yeah but north american corolla never got the 4AGE 20v so ZZ engines are the first of corolla in north america to use aluminum head and block...
