take it to the dealer asap. possible engine sludge/bad piston rings/seals. should be under warranty but get ready for a battle, especially if you dont have prior records/receipts of oil changes from toyota dealers only. good luck.

No smoke? That's good, but scary, too.

Check all the places where oil can leak from....oil filter, drain plug, seal around drain pan, gaskets on headers on the engine.

Definately have a mechanic check it out SOON.

Good luck!

Boo

Parents 94 Corolla with a 1.8 motor is also losing oil at an alarming rate. Will jump under there this weekend to see if I see it dripping, but no drips on the garage floor, so probably burning it. Looked at Edmonds forum, and seen quite a few other Corolla owners commenting about mysteriously losing lots of oil from their Corolla and no smoke or anything.

Try replacing the PVC valve (with OEM, not aftermarket). A bad one can cause oil usage.

PCV Replacement

Remove the plastic valve cover. In the back of the engine, you will see the PCv sticking out of the valve head. Be very careful as the head is aluminum. If the engine has sort of mileage, you'll need to "break" it loose. Do buy the replacement from a Toyota dealer. Mine cost a whopping $6, less than an aftermarket. In my opinion it's woth getting a shop manual from Autozone or Pep Boys. The instruction are very detailed and with good pictures.
