Sunroof not working...

I click on the button and nothing from the motor. There was a 50% off sale at the pick and pull today, so I got a spare motor and relay.

How can I check the current motor/relay/switch in the car? Not quite the same as my old Landcruiser with the one wire and ground

check and see if you are getting power to the motor connection when you hit the switch yet?

I just did and I wasn't getting power at the switch but was at the one side of the connector right above it.

Took a closer look and the male end of the connectors weren't there (maybe a PO cut them out so people wouldn't hear the horrible sound when they tried it otherwise?)

Anyways, the motor works fine now, so I guess it's down to the cables.

The one I saw in the junkyard was already picked over so I assume someone already stole the cables out of there

I'm not overly concerned about this, so is it pretty easy to get to? Are there any other cars that I might be able to take the cables out of?

Thanks again

Shawn

Doubt anyone cares, but got it figured out. Found another unmolested GTS in the yard today, and got to practice taking it apart to get the cables out before I started on my own.

Seems to work perfectly after I've got it all back together, will just have to test if it's water tight next time it rains I guess

If anyone has any questions on it, feel free to PM or email me and I'll try to help!

Shawn

If you are talking about the 89-91 SR5 or GTS good job if you are taking the sunroof panel right down as I did. I then replaced the left cable with a new one, and then the right one was from a junker. I disassembled and cleaned all the tracks, lubed everything up and now my sunroof works as good as new. A bit time consuming but by no means difficult. I does involve stripping down a lot of the interior of the car including the headliner, then removing the roof sub-panel. Once the headliner is out, one can change/remove the motor assy. To change a track cable(more common), then the subroof has to come down as well. Probably the best thing to do when taking one of these apart for the first time is to go to the boneyard and pull one apart there. A word of caution to be very careful with the cables as they are pricey to the tune of about $200 each side. The cables can be interchanged with a little modification(by changing the shoe side on cable).
