intake question

So i was reading the thread about the corolla intake. you know the one which people debated either short ram or cold air is better. well i was wondering if i buy a filter head and take off the air box is that going to be hard? and will any filterhead from autozone or something work? also will it make my car loud? cuz i dont want power i just want it to sound cool thanks in advance

Why would you want just sound? thats silly, the factory intake piping is such that it tones down noise.

no intake is gonna give you "massive" power gains...my sri sounds awesome though

edit: it is easy to take the airbox out and a stainless steel clamp should work, you may need an adapter though

Yeah I got a Ractive intake on my sr5. I noticed more power with this than opposed to my stock system, but the stock filter was also jammed up with spruce needles
It sounded cool though, kinda like a low droning noise. It was worth the $29.00 Canadian that I paid for it.

WTF??

No intake at all wont work very well... your MAF sensor wont be reading the right amount of air so your air/fuel ratio is going to be way off...

If you mean remove the fiter and just leave the pipe then it will be too much air for the MAF to read (making it just dump fuel into the chamber) and you will get dirt, rocks, water and everything in there resulting in a blown motor. But you're right... BIG HORSEPOWER

Actually I think he meant "no air filter that you can put on your car" not "no air filter at all." A misunderstanding. I hope.

^at least someone knew what i meant. Who in their right minds would consider having "no" intake.

Let me rephrase....no intake...you can add....will give you etc.......
