Help, I have a speedo that dosnt work anymore....anyone else have/had this problem. Is it common for the instument to fail or is it most likely that the cable actually broke, If I take off the cluster drive a bit to see if the cable spins..umm will that work?? Or whats the best easiset way to troubleshoot the problem.

Is it difficult to replace a cable, if Im selling the car would it be a good idea to get used from the auto wrecker??
suggestions / tips anyone????

Cable broke or maybe it got disconnected.

I'm new with Toyota but what about the fuses? Try the appropriate fuse ($1 maybe) and see if that makes a difference.

^agreed, when i blew the dome light fuse my speedometer didn't work

I wouldn't say "CABLE" if I didn't know the speedo on an 89 GTS is not cable driven... newer corollas do have electronic speedos, I think they started on the AE111 or so.
