for me its only good to fan's of the 86 and mountain racing, as an anime its not the best around. its still good and i enjoyed watching it, but to me cowboy bebop is a better anime. watch only the first stage the rest becomes kinda redundant. at least for me the only real gripping part of the series was stage one.

anyway hurrah for you! i had an 86 before i watched it too and loved the 86 still before i watched it.

Well, I can't say that I owned an 86 before watching Initial D, but I can say that I knew about the 86 and was already on the lookout for one (among other cars) before I say Initial D. However, after I first saw Initial D I was really excited and entertained to see Takumi taking out all the other cars with his Trueno.

Anyway, I will agree that Cowboy Bebop is good as well (it's the anime that got me started on anime), but me being a car guy Initial D has to be my favorite.

And you are definitely doing it the right way Karma. You really need to see first and second stage before you watch the movie since it is kind of a continuation of the first two stages. Also, I recently heard a (unconfirmed) rumor that they are working on a 4th stage and that the first episode is already out on the net somewhere. Although, if this rumor is true, it may be a while before good quality fansubs start to show up.

True Initail D isnt the best out there. Actually there is another one about cars. EX Driver and it sucks. My major beef with initial D is how poorly draw the characters are. I guess the music makes up for it thoe.

But one thing I'd like to know is how come no one ever talks about the ever neglected Extra Stage. It is just as poorly animated as the rest onlyit was about the chicks instread.

BECAUSE it IS the crappiest one of all thats why ppl don't even bother to mention it, i don't even remember there was a "extra stage" until you said it just now

oh yeah, about the animation, i agree with you, all the characters look messed up, the art work isn't too impressive (except the computer animation ) however in 3rd stage (movie) it obviously looks a lot better

they all look like takumi with different hair styles and colour, "sausage" lips

The art work is definitely not up to par with other anime such as the aforementioned Cowboy Bebop or even better the Cowboy Bebop movie, however I think it still gets the point across and the artwork isn't bad enough that it will turn me off to the series.

As for extra stage being neglected, well it does kind of suck. For one, the main characters are Mako and that other chick who's name I can't remember. The series really isn't the same without Takumi. For two, my copy of Extra Stage in particular sucks. It's horrible quality and I could only stand to watch it once. Otherwise, the quality is almost so bad as to be painful to watch.

yeah, Initial D is ok... I have always been a big animation fan since i was a little kid. Cowboy Bebop is amazing as well as Hellsing (or however you spell it), I also like (if the story werent so screwed up) Evangelion. There are all the best anime shows... o yea, also FLCL (very screwed show too).. The Best and most artistic movies from japan in my opinion are the Gihbli Studio movies, some of which include: Monoki Hime, Laputa (castle in the sky), Nausica (warrior of the wind), My neighbor Yamada, My neighbour Totoro..... these are my favorite animes, becuse it seems no detail is over looked in the art and character portrail

anyways Initial D is ok art , people are drawn horribly (cant actually tell if the girls are suposed to be good looking) , story is ok..pretty funny... and the movie is alot better artwork but still not great....However initial D is great show to sit down with your friends and watch....

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but i beleive that Jacky Chan is releasing a live action movie... which is kinda gay cuz all of the characters will be Hong kong singers... but its ok, because toyota is suposed to make some new "86"s for the movie....

FLCL is awsome! I loved the art work in that. I have one of the 2 art books. Other big winners in my eyes is Berserk (even thoe the art work is slightly substandard), Lain, Trigun, Gasaraki, .hack, Noir, Kenshin, Chobits and Bogipop Phantom. And who could ever forget Astro Boy?

Hahahahahaha!!!!!!! I remember when I first started to watch Initial D and they intoduced Mogi's character. They were talking about how hot she was. All I though was what the **** are they talking about? She is ****en ugly. Are they really that desparet to fool them selves into thinking that the town hoe is desirable? Man, if Takumi gever gets her in bed all I can say is that he would have as much sensasion as toothpic in the Grand Canyon.

for me second stage was such a shock visually. i personally actually liked and (rathered) the art style in first stage. yea its lower quality but at the same time it's flow is much better. the art style grew on me. i thought it was pretty awful at first(the art), but now i'ts the only true initial D. besides the plot is better in 1st stage. refraining from explaination due to spoilage. the girls in initial d will grow on you. and the sausage lips, they are SO in. heh.

The art in Initial D sucks because they spent too much money doing all those CG stuff so they hired the newbies to do the drawings. :x

Macross ROCK !!!!!
