engine timing with f/i

Hi everyone,

I drive a 98 corolla, but this question pertains more to ECUs then the corolla in specific.

My ECU is a MAP-based, and i wanted to run a 2-bar MAP sensor and 2x size injectors for fuel management with turbo. Here's a Honda forum link that describes approximately how this should work(and yes, it has been tried successfully)

http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=531705&page=1

The only thing that concerns me with this setup is the engine timing, because my engine's CR is 10:1. My car comes with a knock sensor stock. If i rewire the ECU to stay in closed loop mode, will it be able to retard timing enough to avoid knock? i just want to see if anyone knows approximately how many degrees of timing you can lose with the stock ECU setup? I tried asking this on other forums, but wasnt able to get any clear answers.
