INTAKE question, sorry fellas, i know there's been a lot of intake questions already, but i'll be getting a job and the intake is where it'll be my FIRST mod =D so, the question is....well, i wanna know what the best intake would be for my 94 dx 5-speed, I COULD NOT find any cold air intake kits for my car, so i'll have to go with short ram intake kits. Does anyone know what would be the best kit for me? whats the difference between the k&N intake kits (besides the filter) and other ones like the Weapon R kits and AEM, etc etc.....whats the difference? which one sounds better?
I would never buy anything online unless its from a well known company.. even then I still wouldn't buy it. Don't you have any local "Rice" shops in your area?? I'm sure they be able to get it for you.
Cold air intakes are ok but you risk more since the intake is closer to the ground so
if you go in a big puddle of water and the water gets to the filter.. bye bye engine. I'd get a short ram intake instead.
Rice shops where I live are nonexsistant, all we have is Napa auto parts and Lexus dealerships. Washington county Minnesota is the 17th richest county in the US, all we have is old women in RX330s and spoiled rich kids in Escalades (yes, the kids here drive escalades, GRRRR)
www.coldairintakeshop.com they have a cold air intake, I am not saying it's any good, and I've never used it, but worth a look-see.
thanks, they do have CAI for my car, but....does toucan and vibrant good companies? can anyone give me some pointers on the Weapon R kits, k&N, AEM, toucan, vibrant, etc. because i know other companies like k&N says they GUARANTEE horsepower and torque from their intake kits or u can sue them or something, but other intake kits like toucan doesn't guarantee anything, so....im not sure....any pointers and tips from anyone would be great, thanks
You could probably just as easily have an exhaust shop make an Intake tube for you. Or jsut go to Napa and buy a few peices of pre-bent Exhaust tubing and Jimmy-Rig a CAI..that's what I did but Now I'm bakc to have a SRI

You could make one out of pvc piping. Guys did that on my firebird forum all the time. You have to relocate your batter to the trunk. Then go take some measurements, and buy a k&n clamp on cone filter. Go down to home depot get some pvc pipe, sandpaper, spray paint, a saw, and rubber connectors, They make them in 45* style, and you can move them around a bit to. It will take all day, but look pretty trick when you're done. Probably cost about 120 bucks with the battery relocation.
They all pretty much sound the same anyways. And yeah the can guarantee hp. Just an increase of .1 is all they need
Had decent luck with the Ractive SRI...(think it's a Toucan, not quite sure). From the pictures on www.coldairintakeshop.com , the Toucan is a SRI and the Vibrant looks like it wouldn't fit properly.
