97 corolla starting problems... lol

All right leme describe the symptoms. Turn the key and the engine makes like 1 crank or something … sorry I duno how else to describe it. hmm ok you know the series of noises before the car actually starts.. it’s like 1 of those. Then if I hold it after the 1 crank noise I can hear like a gas or something hissing out of something … again sorry for the vagueness of the descriptions. The car will eventualy starts, but only after I move the key back to the starting position and retry about 3 more times… It only does it when its cold though… I think haha

I would say either the starter contacts or soleniod?

Got a 98 rolla- would just click once, after a few tries would start. Is this whats going on?

ok... all done...........

i bought the parts from toyota........

2 little bags of nuts and bolts, one is called starter kit.....another is called repair starter or something, if u need the part number, let me know...

its a simple job... but really hard to get to if you don't have a hoist... its behind the engine, near the bottom.... but if you can get to it, its only a couple of bolts, and some sanding of the copper parts...

remember to disconnect the -ve first....if u are trying it yourself...

the parts are 35 bucks CND............ labous would have been about 60-80
