Removing Rear Speakers of '90 Corolla

First a little info.: I drive a '90 Toyota Corolla and I'm trying to remove the rear speakers.
Hey everyone, Well...my rear speakers are all messed up and don't work now so today I went to remove them but ran into trouble with the lining over the rear speakers. My dad did remove one of the covers of the speaker and after a while I remover the speaker but I was wondering if I was suppose to remove the black holder or not. Next, how do I get the lining off if that is needed.

Four screws from the bottom, Slide the grille up. Four screws to pull the speaker.

I doubt the black peice needs removed as the retarded P/O of my car did ot remove them as he stripped the system out.
