Gear shifter light ??

Hey everybody...my girlfirend has an automatic 1999 corolla le, and the letters for the gears do not light up.
I've tried searching but not sure what to search for exactly...so
is there a bulb under there that i should replace?
a fuse I should check?
does the gear selector not light up?

I guess i'll be picking up a corolla repair manual to help her start fixing parts?
which reminds me does anyone know where i can get a replacement part for the little cup holder on the back of the middle console for the tan interior?

thanks

i've look all over the net and cant find anything.....

so could any of you corolla owners tell me if your gear selector by the shifter lights up so you can see what gear you are in at night? seems like it should right?

hoping to get a response before i start tearing into the car.

There is a bulb in there.. you gotta take out the panels around the shifter to get at it.

Alright i replaced mine in my 97 today. All i did was take the back part of the console( E-brake part) and then pop or the little ring around the shifter. Then the rectange part where the gear letters are pops off with those 4 tabs. then look on the left after you have that off anf there was my bulb!!!

Just had to replace the shifter bulb on my 97. FYI, the local Autozone didn't have the same bulb (#152 or #159). They suggested a #194 and it wored fine.
