unknown wires in intake

there's a wire that goes inside my intake from the left side, i have a 94 dx 5-spd 7afe, whats this wire for? is it safe to cut it or something or just let it loose if i'm installing an after-market intake? (tube, filter) and there's a black box on the upper half of my stock rubber tube also, what is it?

so...how do i relocate it if i'm replacing my stock intake tube? just anywhere? or do i just cut it off or something? or cut a little hole in my after-market tube and stick the wire in there?

You'll have to drill a hole in order to mount it on the intake, obviously this is not a Corolla-specific intake its probably a one-size-fits-all deal and it doesn't have the right holes and hose locations.

That's the intake air temperature sensor. It's important to keep it intact, as the ECU uses information from it to draw a conclusion about what the MAP sensor is telling it. Or something like that... suffice to say it still must have a home.
