AE92 Shaking when braking

My car shakes soooooooo hard when I even lightly tap the brakes when I'm travelling > 40mph, why?!~ I can feel the pedal vibrating and if my windows are rolled down a bit they shake like a huge earthquake .

Warped front brake rotors. Have them turned.

Yes I agree the front rotors are probably warped. But Damemorder can you explain "have them turned" wouldn't you either buy new ones or machine them??

I believe that "having them turned' is the same as having them machined. ie. have them turned on a brake lathe.

I had the same problem, turned out it was b/c the rotors had built up some serious rust after sitting for a couple months. Sort of fixed itself when I had to hit the brakes hard one day

I would rather replace them with new ones than have them "turned" or machined.. If they're warped its probably for a reason, too old or being exposed to too much heat.

Yeah and if they are really old and then shatter (into a million pieces;see watkins glen nascar race 2005) or break after machining, you are truly scr*wed

Buy new ones, don't waste $$$ turning, they are too thin anyway!

Purely opinion on whether or not to have them turned. I've never had one shatter, And I doubt any street car is going to hit the temps needed for that to happen.

Also, Since warping is truely caused by heat, Would you rather spend $20 to have them turned or $120 to get new ones when you know they're going to warp again?

It's your money to spend.

Your style is slightly "flame"-ish. And It's not apreciated.

You'd have to have pretty high temps to shatter one, I've had temps over 400* on my other car with only boiled fluid resulting. Seriously, If you get enough to shatter a disc on a street car, There's other problems.

Also, I would never buy a $20 rotor. Imagine the quality of the slug in that peice. Ever heard the saying "pay to play"? It's very true in brakes.

not to, repeat what other have said, but heat makes rotors warp correct?
so having the most metal possible makes for better cooling.

so therefor, turning rotors, itself, makes the rotors more prone to warping.

and if you warp new rotors, i would like to see your driving habits.

Yes heat warps the rotors, once warped always warped. If you turn them they will be thinner and you might get a few miles out of them but the warpness will come right back, I assure you - been there done that! These cars these days start out with pretty thin rotors to begin with and really don't have enough meat for turning, it aint like the old days on your 1975 Ford.

Actually, i got crappy ee90 238mm solid discs, however, i must tell you, that I cracked a set once, that weren't warped (before i drove that night), malta is a very uphill and downhill country - so when driving 100km/h - 160km/h the brakes get worked out :P
Looking for AE92 GTi or AE92 with a GZE rear and front discs...

Oh yeah, i also use dot 5.1 coz dot 3 was really not working well after some abuse.
