Get in the car and turn the key to ON (don't start the car,) then change the odometer to display "odo" and not trip A or B.
Turn the key off.
Turn the key back to on. Within six seconds of doing this, press and hold the odometer button. Do so for 10 seconds.
Then, while still holding the button, buckle up, then unbuckle.
The "odo" display should then change to say "b-on."
Push the odo button to get it to read "b-off." Then wait for the display to change back to the odometer. That's it, you're done.
The car will still beep right when you turn it on if you don't have a seatbelt, but it won't beep if you or your passenger unbuckles for a moment. Salvation!
Happy to hear that you finally got rid of your buzzer.
I didn't compare exactly with the sequence I did to get rid of mine (from that old thread)but it looks very similar. As I said, on mine it worked as advertised on the 1st try.
My seatbelt is always on because I feel naked without it. It's been a habit for 20 years. Only exception is whenever I'm backing up because I prefer to turn around (like I was taught in skool...rather than trust my rear-view mirror) or pulling around to the drive through which is pretty damn secure. If someone can't handle a drive through without having an accident, then there's bigger issues at hand.
There are exceptions when it's a reasonable risk and necessity to do 15kph without the seatbelt on. They're rare...but horribly annoying and more dangerous with a 90db chime distracting you further and increasing the risk of an "incident". I can turn off my radio to concentrate in tight situations...so why should I not turn off that annoying beep?
Long and short - it's a free country. I can choose to wear or not wear my seatbelt on private property where the Ontario Highway Traffic Act does not apply. I understand the risks and I don't take them unnecessarily. But either way, it is solely borne by yours truly.
I thought I made it fairly clear that these instructions dont work for me on either my 2006 Matrix or 2006 Corolla. Nada, nil, no, non, uh uh. It never changes from ODO when I follow the intructions to the "T"!

Made it fairly clear to WHOM? Yeesh!
Damn this place and the noobs have become severely irritating lately. Remind me to go the 9thGen for all my Rolla needs.
You silly ducks that couldn't get it. It took me like 4 tries, but I realized there were some problems in the instructions. Not much, but it's about the wait time. AND, you don't have to unbuckle it to get it to work.
So far, success has been in the 05-06. Probably the same for 03-04, just I haven't read it yet.

1) Make sure your odometer is set to odometer and not trip
2) Set car to off (not acc)
3) Turn key to ON
4) Wait 4-6 seconds (1 one-thousand, 2 one-thousand...)
5) Press and HOLD the odometer button
6) Wait 10-12 seconds (1 one-thousand, 2 one-thousand...)
7) Buckle your seatbelt
You'll see
8) Let go of the odometer button and press it again, you'll see
9) Wait until it clears and goes back to the odometer with your milage.
10) Start driving unsafe and free.
Honest though guys, wear your seatbelts. I only like this feature for passengers when they get into my car and I start getting a headroll. As well as my heavy backpack setting off the chime.
First thing I did on it was to kill the belt buzzer.
Same as on my Corolla. Worked first try.
And I have another assignement on my in-laws 06 Camry tonight.
Will see if the same procedure works on Camry.
Now, just to make it clear that we have had seatbelt laws here for decades and that all of us have been buckling up all the time. But this buzzer is a real pain when you or your passenger forget your belt and start to roll or un-buckle before a complete stop. In that case, the warning light still does its job.
