Would a 12lb, 16"x8"; or 13lb, 17"x8" wheel sell?

Hi I am ToyotaNation.com Vendor 6061forged.com. We are deciding if we should build a wheel for RWD Drift style Corolla's. We have 2 wheel options. Both wheels would be rotary forged, manufactured from aerospace grade aluminum, and be fully strength tested (they would pass all japanese and european standards). They would be available in finish you like (polished, powedercoated any color, painted any color, or any combination) for no extra charge. The sizes would be 16"x8", would weigh around 11.5lbs and have a 12-35mm offset, they would retail for $229ea. The other size is 17"x8", would weigh around 12.5lbs and have a 12-35mm offset and retail for $239ea. Should we build one of these wheels? and if so which one?

at that price, i believe it would sell. wheels of comparable size and weight tend to run around that price, or just a little higher. Unfortunately, you aren't a very well-known company (at least i've never heard of you) and that might hurt a bit, unless you have great designs, and possibly sell through a bigger dealer, such as tirerack.

if you are making rims for "RWD Drift style Corolla's", I'm assuming you are talking about the AE86. If so, you won't get many people who go over 15 inch. Speaking as a corolla owner, I'm peticularly looking for a 15 x 7 with a very low offset (0 - -6 or so).

Plus, +12 wheels to +35 are more suited to 240sx's. Corollas run +20 I think stock and they are so far into the wheel well. My last set of rims were 14 x 7 +8 and they were close to the fender.

I guess what i'm trying to say is you won't sell very many in that size range, mainly because corollas make so little power, they could barely turn a 17 inch rim

RE: Wheel Sizes

Hmm 15x7 we could only do as low as 35mm offset but we could do a 16x8 with a 0 offset. Would that work?
