Canada squeeking type noise comming from crankshaft pulley

theres a really stange sound comming from my crank pulley and it gets loud around turns and when i go from Park or to Drive. my car is a 95 corolla 1.6L 4A-FE. a friend of mine told me i probably need a new crank pulley but i dunno, i called the dealer ship and they said a new pulley is $358.00 CDN. i dunno could it be the vibration damper or what? have any of you guys had this problem? if anyone might know what it is that would be awsome

thanks

Are you sure the squeeling is coming from the crankshaft pulley - or do you only know it is coming from the general area around the pulley? If you believe your friend, ask him to point out to you what is wrong with the pulley. Is it bent?

If the squeeling is associated with turning then it seems more likely the problem is that your belts are not correctly adjusted. Is your power steering fluid low?

i took it to a mechanic and he looked at it and it was the crankshaft pulley the rubber part in the middle wasent attached to the outter part anymore and was moving side to side and it was polishing the the block soooo glad i got this fixed and he gave me a good price too. cuz if i left it like that i would have had to spend a whole lot more then $200. but anyways im glad i got er fixed cuz it seems like it works a hell of alot better more power and everything.
