first of all.. what year is your GT-S?? Im not too sure if the 90-91 AE92's have the AFM or not(AFM=air flow meter/air mass meter a small black box usually located between the air box and the intake tube).. (I think they both have AFM's and the only difference is 88-89 have TVIS and 90-91's don't have TVIS) the 88-89 AE92's like mine do have AFM , and this kinda restricts you from putting an aluminum Intake(you would have to do a bit of modifications in order to include the AFM, too much work if you ask me). However you can still put a Filter on it, all you have to do is get an adapter bracket for the AFM (i got mine for $25 CDN Taxes in) and a Cone filter (about $50 CDN)or an HKS style foam filter (Ractive makes one, it looks round almost mushroom-like for about $60CDN) and of course, either way you have to remove the air box, a little tricky but if you know what to do (like I do now, LOL!) it should be a breeze.
Now which Filter is better you ask?? well.. I have both of them.. (long story)

and there's a lot of differences between them with respect to how the car runs, performance wise, and how the filter fits, etc.
-HKS Style Foam Filter: Fits perfectly and lots of room to install it, because it's half the length of a cone style filter. These filters sound Awesome!! I love the grunt that they give after the RPMs hit the 4000-4500 line! and the power seems to kick in endlessly at the same RPM line without restrictions. When I have this filter on the car, I always try to keep the rpm's higher than 4000

.
Drawbacks: Seems to get dirty REALLY quick (that's when having 2 filters comes in handy

) and the car also seems like it wants to stall if the RPMs go lower than 800, probably due to the fact that the foam filter system lets more air than the K&N filter system used by the Cone filters so the air/fuel mixture is probably richer in air, and the RPMs also seem to jump up and down when idle. better fuel management and injectors would come in handy with the foam filters(either that or its time for me to change my fuel pump and fuel filter

).
I've also been told that these filters seem to have a very short lifetime(someone said 6 months of continuous use and it would be falling apart due to heat and dirt, etc.. I guess it's a better racing filter than an everyday use filter.)
-K&N Style Cone Filter: It fits really tight because the battery and the fuse box are in the same area, it seems hard to install at first due to the space, but it fits like a glove after a couple of minor mods(I can tell you how if you choose to go with this filter).
The car seems to run great with the cone filters, no RPMs jumping up and down and no "stalling" feel. Fuel doesn't seem to dissappear as quick as it does with the foam filter either(I'm on the 401 all the time so I notice a bit of a difference in fuel economy) great filter for everyday use
Drawbacks:Not as grunty as the foam filters though but you still hear a nice sound, and power feels like it doesn't kick in as quick, almost restricted at times.
So there you have it, that's my 2 cents with respect to air filters and 4AGE engines in the AE92 corollas, hehe.. remember, whichever one you choose performance is still way better than having that restrictive air box. Myself, I like having both filters, and for around $125 CDN for 2 filters and the adapter, it's pretty flexible and cheap. My next plan is to make a Homemade Cold Air Intake system (hopefully Andrew can give me a hand, LOL!)
Maybe we can organize a TN meet at Kennedy Commons sometime this month and you can come and check out mine and the other AE92 guy's setup. (come on guys!! meeting this weekend, saturday nite 8pm pre-Shannonville gathering!!

what you say??)
