AE86 cherry bomb muffler on an sr5?

i want an exhuast, and i really dont like the cheapo APC crap, and i really cant afford a good quality HKS or APEX exhuast, so im gonna do a cherry bomb for right now. my exxhuast it rotted from the cat to the muffler, so my idea was cut it off at the cat, buy a cherry bomb and bolt it on. my question, how loud would it be estimated at? i would also maybe consider something else, im looking cheap, and i want something loud but not straight piped.

cherrybombs ar more for street rods man i wouldnt try to burn rice with one. if your looking for a decent deep sounding muffler go to advanced and pick up a turbo muffler there like 30 bucks and you will be heard.

Holy deja vu.

Don't get a "turbo" muffler! I just said this to someone else on here. Turbo mufflers are chambered mufflers, THEY are for old-school muscle V8s. Never buy anything unless it's a straight-through glass-pack design, like a Cherry Bomb. I bought a Thrush Turbo muffler for my SR5. It was not only louder than the fart can I took off, but I lost a considerable amount of power. STAY AWAY FROM "TURBO" MUFFLERS. If you do get a cherry bomb though, put it underneath the car by the driveshaft, they're pretty long and you won't have enough room for it behind the driveshaft. I kept the turbo muffler but added a resonator from another car and it quieted it down, but it's still slower.

Looks ghey + more power = fart can

Looks stock + stock power + junk + HOLY LOUDNESS BATMAN = turbo muffler

FOR AN SR5??? jeez, how much HP you think you got?? your car barely makes 80hp.. you'll be hurting performance rather than improving it.

Unless you're buying a regular muffler.. ALL mufflers are pretty much straight thru designed so either way they'll be LOUD!

you could always slap on a resonator and a magnaflow universal muffler on there. i put that combo on my car and it became a bit louder and powerful than stock. although i dont know if a magnaflow muffler will fit in there though

no looking for the power, i know it only puts little over 90hp to the rear wheels. i just want it to be loud and piss people off. and i think the cheap APC crap of a rice muffler sound worse, and i will eventually put on a nice HKS when i do a 4age swap next year, im just using this car right now as a school and work comuter for another year. and my reason for a cherry bomb, cheap. and also my exhuast from the cat converter, to the muffler is rusted out, and when you down shift it sounds funny, and im taking it off for something i can mount the cat. i would go stright pipe, but i cant afford to be burning piston rings up, and ruining my engine.

Yeah man, straight pipes or cherry bomb, they're both loud, if the car was turbo it would be quiet (the turbo makes it softer) just go straight pipes biatch lol, no, bosal exhaust, then bake the muffler so the fibreglass is fucked, then it has a bad ass raspy sound to it especially when you let off the throttle, it goes waaaaaaaaaaa but mettaliciky (thats on a 2004 civic dx with sohc) the Honda/Michelin car, it was off one of the big teams, the driver said he liked the sound better and it made people talk bout him cheating nice

its sad to say but this is the ONLY POST that actaully has some decent and proper info in it in this thread if you can read past the 8 year old crap :P

"Turbo" mufflers only mean one thing -- larger internal diameter, as turbo's rely on zero backpressure and also because turbos have a quieter exhaust noise you can get away with a bigger pipe.

in no way does a turbo muffler say wether its baffled or straight though, thats down to the manufacturere to decide how they make their muffler.

just hit up your local cheap shop, and get a ultraflow/lukey/walker/oval magnaflow/whatever -- anything in mild steel with the standard oval and straight though design, theyre cheap because theyre mild and you can pick a tip to get welded on

polished mufflers are for riceboys (yes, this means ALL of you polsihed magnaflow boyz).

lol

ive gone through a few different mufflers with my GT-S right now i think i have a turbo muffler as the outlet is longer... it sounds way better than my last muffler... but it could stil be better... my advise would be is to buy a magnaflow and get a tip... im thinking about trying that next..

if you want it loud go with the turbo muffler style my car is pretty flippen loud but i also have a header which cleans up the sound a bit better

Don't fuck with that man. I hate that shit when dudes fuck with their exhaust and shit. Another reason we need manditory safety inspection checks for shit like this. Keep the fucking thing quiet like it was designed. I also hate those damd bright headlight bulb conversions, they are illegal in most places but people seem to get away with it. Ever have some dink with those blinding fuckers approach you on a dark, rainy, night. Well, when it happens to me I usually get my point across. Poor bastards must have also have had steering problems cause a couple of guys ended up in the ditch.

You know if you are going to complain about peoples safety then how about you not boast about compromising other peoples safety and putting them in a ditch by retaleating against something that is just as stupid if not stupider then your beliefs on headlights. I agree that those headlights are quite bright and probably put in too many cars. However there are places that need that extra light to see. I know when I was in college and driving home for the weekend and what not I wish I would of had some brighter lights because the highway to get from my college town to my home town(2 hour drive) was so dark I would have to put the brights on and still had problems seeing and that was with a clear night and moon up above. NExt time just be the bigger man. Also we shouldn't be here complaining that he should be sticking with a quiet exhaust he was just asking what the thoughts were on a cherry bomb muffler. All you had to do was give an anwser like I hate those things they make the car sound like rice instead of cussing and making yourself look like a fool.

Fact is any normal person would put a set of driving lights on and use them when no other car is approaching. But it seems like there are lots out there who don't give a shit about other people. Best thing to do is carry a hammer and "adjust" these illegal lights. It works very well, just one little tap with the hammer and they're set for life. Cheers

its funny every post I find dirt666 in, he's always crying and complaining

Let the guy get a friggin muffler for his car and quit bitchin. Also: My exhaust was rotting away, so I got the resinator removed. No cat, no res + stock exhaust = no. It sounds like a wasp nest is on the back of my car, but once again it's a wagon so my standards aren't high. I like the magnaflow idea! Go with it
