Where is MAF located on 98 Corolla?

Where is the MAF located on a 98 Corolla?

I just bought the car and a week later the Check Engine Light came on. Error code is P0420.

I am starting with the easy stuff first, but can't find the MAF.

Thanks.

IIRC, it's mounted on the airbox.

What is the IIRC? Is it something that could cause the Check Engine Light to come on?

I am trying to check the simple things before getting into expensive items like O2 sensors and catalytic converter.

You remember completely correctly. '98-'99, like the '93-'97, use a MAP sensor and intake air temperature sensor instead of an airflow meter.

P0420 code can only be caused by one thing: the readings of the post-convertor oxygen sensor compared to those of the main oxygen sensor are indicating the catalytic convertor has suffered a failure of some sort... deekay140 is right.

Does that mean it is definitely the catalytic converter, or is it possible one or both Oxygen sensors may be bad?
