Angry xrs nailed by meteor shower.

I hope you all don't mind if I vent. Just polished, waxed and washed my car that past 3 weeks.
And last weekend on two separate days I got nailed by flying objects on two separate highways. First pieces of wood from a truck chipped my front end. The next day rocks chipped my wind shield. What the frig is going on? I am so vexed! A lot of you are probably laughing and I don't blame you. Am I noticing this shit just because I keep my car clean or what? With my past cars the paint never chipped this easily.

New cars have thinner paint. Noticed that when I parked my old 300D beside my friend's Matrix.

Be more careful next time, avoid those trucks especially gravel trucks. I too try to keep my car as clean as possible, I hate it when small rocks hit the car. You can easily hear it.

But it's not a meteor shower, if it were then perhaps it wouldn't hit your car, just burn up the atmosphere.

OMG, I have to take this opportunity to vent in your thread because I had the same exact thing happen to me!! Well, almost: I was about 3 car-lengths behind an idiot in one of those lawn service vans (for some reason they all drive like morons) so I was trying to keep my distance. He slows down to make a right turn... **NO TURN SIGNAL** and then proceeds to go off on the shoulder kicking up all kinds of rocks and gravel, and now i have 2 little dings right above the windshield on the drivers side!

Him ---> <---Me

AAAAAAAAAARRRRRHGHGaW@#%&*@*!@&$*@&#*$&$%&#*#

...sorry I just had to rant, and this seemed like the right place. Sucks about your car, obviously I feel your pain. Some people just need to be beaten severely about the head..

Blame the environment protection organizations for getting legislation for thinner paint. Older cars used to have a much thicker coat of paint. It is the same for every brand. From Lexus to KIA.

And that's why I have to get a new car every 4 years - because it looks like it's been sand blasted and pock marked with rusts stains.

Good job EPA. I'll do just that! Mr. Toyota...please get me some more raw materials and make me a new car...will ya? I'll be tossing this one out soon enuf.

Agreed. The windshields appear prone to damage. I went thru one in the first month ($350) and cracked it again a few weeks ago. Luckily I was on my way to Canadian Tire where they had a glass repair dude. Fixed.

Thinking about that EPA paint issue, I have to wonder where their head is. The majority of the smog we get in Ontario is from Michigan and Ohio plants pumping shit into the air. Where the hell is the EPA? Stroking themselves with leftover automotive paint...most likely.

Ugh, I am now the proud owner of three different chips in my windshield from rocks, but the paint (that isn't rusted) holds up well. My dad's 1996 Honda accord has SO MANY missing paint marks over the front it's not funny, and my parents won't get it repainted.

ahhhh it feels good now to see that I am not the only one.

The meteor shower thing was just an expression. I was on a two lane highway when a truck cut me off and zillions of small pieces of wood came flying at me with no way out!

But it is only a car and I shouldn't let it get to me.

Hey "Ricky" is Canadian Tire any good for minor chip repairs on windshields?
