Any way to get brighter reverse lights ?

Is there any bulb out there that will give me some real improvement in brightness in the reverse lights ? Don't need anything "cool looking" just better lighting. Something that is OK for a 99 rolla. Thanks, George

There are 50 watt bulbs, but they have a much larger glass bulb and sometimes won't fit through the socket hole. You can open the hole a little bit with a dremel, it won't harm anything. If you have plastic scokets beware, if you are in reverse too long, the socket will melt, the bulb will push out and the socket will harden in that shape. I made the mistake of using these as rear fog lights inside my factory tail light housings. Needless to say I ended up needing to replace two sockets. This was in my Eclipse which has FRP(fiberfglass reinforced plastic) sockets, junk.

Not sure of the bulb used in that application, but I have seen halogen bulbs for many different common automotive bulbs. They are very bright, but I caution you...these light bulbs may heat up fast and damage the lense or reflecor if left on for a period of time. I have also seen LED bulbs used for the same application. Do a google seach for your bulb type and add "halogen" or "LED", you should come up with something. I've seen them both at Princess Auto & Cambodian Tire.

if you use a bulb that's wattage is more than specified.. you run the risk of blowing the harness.

If you leave your reverse lights on for hours at a time maybe, these bulbs are not going to draw that much....and the LED bulbs are going to use much less........

I'm planning on using them like any regular person backing up would. So how long is a long time using the reverse lights ? I need to be able to go back half a block at times and be able to see. These halogens, will they be too much for regular wiring and lenns to handle ? Thanks, George
