tire pressure

hey guys, what tire pressure would be reasonable for my 94 dx? i looked in the glove box but the tire pressure says "blank" psi, so im not sure how much psi should go in my tires, last time i checked with the pen type pressure gauge it was around 30 psi, hot, i'm still not sure how much psi needs to go in my rolla, thanks

30PSI Cold is usually pretty standard in Corollas. But check side of the driver door pillar where the VIN and paint information is. Check if it has a reccommended PSI pressure there. If not, the last place you can judge is by checking on the tire for max PSI. If max is like 42PSI, try 32-35PSI. I run on 40PSI which is a little much, but it feels much better for me.

i keep my tires at 32 psi.... When i take my car for service at Walmart they inflate my tires to 32psi everytime.. so it must be a standard...

Low profile tires need more air pressure than high profile ones. I'm running hmmh 41psi.

tire pressures are not specific to cars.. they're specific to the tires.. look on the sidewall of the tire and it will tell you what you should be running.

NO, the side wall tells you the maximum pressure. The owner's manual or the dash sticker will tell you the right pressure for different size tires on that car.

I've always run mine at 40 psi cold so long as they were tyres rated at 44 or 51 psi max (even the maximum ratings on the sidewall are cold). Higher pressure has many benefits, including lower fuel consumption, increased cornering grip, increased steering response, straighter tracking at freeway speeds, decreased tyre noise, and usually more even treadwear. Mine would consistently cup at 32 psi, which is amazing considering I rarely carry heavy loads. Of course, higher pressures can also degrade ride quality, but the difference between 29 psi and 40 psi was not really noticeable in my experience...

LOL now thats a thought...cept doesnt nitrogen expand really fast under heat?

oh and my dads corolla w/tires that say max 44, we usually put 40 in it...tried 30 and it was just sluggish, and max pressure was unnerving. 40 is about right...feels the best and handles the best. in our opinions.

WRONG.. the manual and sticker will tell you the right pressure for the STOCK TIRE. Low profiles always need more pressure.

There are places that you can put nitrogen in your tires, including a lot of tire places. They charge usually from $5-8 per tire. Actually, nitrogen doesn't expand under heat, which is the reason people like it. But for typical street driving, there really isn't much of a point. Besides getting the free green caps for your tires to let people know you're running on nitrogen.

What I meant is that the sticker would say for 175/70/13 inflate to 29psi and so on. If you put nonstandard tires on the car then all bets are off. Still the pressure on the sidewall is the max pressure. Inflate to that when cold, then get on the fwy and go 80mph and you are history.
