I just got my 2006 Corolla S in phantom Gray on sat and am loving it ! It has 300 miles already and I have noticed a ratlle or two. like a strange one in the dash and also seems to be the sunroof at times or it might be coming I think from that adjustable seat belt thing on the sides. My question is , is this normal because I have not broken the car in yet? Will these rattles kind of work themselves out?
They might. Pay attention to what causes the rattles, what RPM's, etc...then see your dealer about them when it's convenient (or at first oil change). Do yourself a HUGE favour and request a rep to go with your to diagnose exactly where the rattle is. Otherwise you run a pretty good risk of doing multiple visits because they didn't "hear" it.
Yeah the passenger seatbelt is a PITA. Just make sure it's not twisted somewhat as this tends to cause the vibration. Get someone else in the car to hel you diagnose exactly what/where it is.

Noticed that exact same thing in my S - twisted passenger belt (unbuckled) "rattling" at certain rpm or on bumps....minor, but annoying.
my '05 LE has 1300 miles and the rattles don't seem to go away. I have a rattle near the radio and somewhere near the glove box and driver's side seatbelt (B pillar).

Just tell your passenger to leave the car as they found it...buckles and all.
But....but...., umm, that passenger would be my wife, and I can't "tell" her anything Actually, it's her car, but I get to drive when we go out in it. I shouldn't complain, though, as the much older GM pos I inherited rattles from everywhere....and the headliner is seperating....christ, people say the 3800 II is "the greatest engine GM ever made"...LMAO...perhaps it's a good engine, but everything attached (including coil packs/ignition modules/intakes) suck out loud - GM deserves to be either out of business, or bought out by a superior company (not FoMoCo or Chrysler).

Oh Jesus, you have a rattle on the B pillar too? On my 05 Corolla, I've started hearing a rattle there too that kinda goes "tap tap tap" when there is the slightest bump in the road. Because I had hooked up an audio system and had removed the panels on the floor, I thought the dealership wouldn't fix it, so I basically stripped my car down.
I HAVE NO CLUE WHERE THE RATTLE IS COMING FROM
At first I thought it was the roof which I ripped off and it wasn't. I thought it was where the top of the seatbelt goes in, it still isn't, and to this day, I can't figure it out. Driving me nuts.
NRM, take your car into the dealer, ill follow you, and prove to them that weather bone stock(me) or stripped(you), no matter what, the car is a piece of rattlebox. haha I wish i could go to CA. well, the point is, i have the exact same rattle that you have on the pillar. pisses me off too.

I had a rattle that sounded like it was coming from the rear shock - but inside the car. Turned out that when the dealer pulled down the headlinder to replace that POS plastic creaky sunshade (cover for the sun roof) that they disengaged some tubes that pull water away from the sunroof. The tubes were rattleing away.
If there's a rattle from the centre consol, touch one of the radio buttons to see if it stops. I've had two radios now (going for a third soon) where the button's rattle at specific RPM. As for why I'm replacing the radio, whenever it get's really hot in the car (ie the radio is hot), I have trouble with the CD player - keeps complaining about ERROR 3 and spits the disk back out. when it cools down it works normally.
I don't know who makes the audio on Corolla, but I hope they f-ing do the job right for 2006...because every time they pull the radio, I need to get a replacement bezel for the radio because the damn thing won't stay in anymore because there's so much foam under my dash now.
I get rattles with my aftermarket headunit as well, so I'm not sure about the radio buttons. The radios are made by Panasonic, so we should hope they'll do a better job if that really is the problem. I've had feelings that it is the harness back there that has been making the rattling noises, if I get the time to dig into there, I'm wrapping them all with foam tape.
Haha, I used to have the ERROR 3 problem too. My god that was annoying.
