faster engine?

Hey people whats up. Well here's the deal I am prob. getting my bro's 2000 corolla ce in a couple months when he buys a prerunner, and i wanted to do an engine swap cause well frankly they have slow engines and i want something a little faster. I thought maybe like a 2002 celica gts engine but i wanted to get some feedback from some other people....any suggestions on what to swap in?

Well you could drop in a 4A-GE.
You have either a 4A-FE 1.6l or 7A-FE 1.8l

I think the '02 Celica GTS engine is the 2ZZ-GE?
Someone correct me if Im wrong.
I don't think that motor would be easy to swap, but im sure it's possible.
Personally I think your best bet would be to drop in a 4A-GZE.
The swap would cost <$2k and would get you 150-165hp stock (depending on which car the motor comes out of), with the ability to get more horses fairly easily.
You could also drop in a 4A-GE20v which will get you between 150-165hp also depending on where the motor came from.

Actually, all of the MY 2000 Corollas in the U.S. came with a 1ZZ-FE with VVT-i...

No you can't.. the 2000 is a ZZE Corolla, meaning it came with a 1ZZFE not an A series motor, he could do a 4AGE swap but the engine mounts are different, so you would have to build custom mounts. It be easier just to do a 2ZZGE swap like Dr Tweak has done before than trying to fit an 4A motor.

Stay with the z's man, throw that 1.8 yamaha co-produced engine in the corolla and if it's a five speed even better.

Yeah that's the most obvious engine to swap in, but it depends on what kind of budget you've got. Check out the links in my sig.
