engine gasket replace

Hi,

Can any one tell me how to replace the engine gasket in my 1993 corolla. I see lot of black sludge near engine and some one suggested me to change the engine gasket. If possible provide some pics of the procedure and also the price and make of the gasket.

thanks

Doesnt sound like your headgasket is gone. Black sludge near the engine isnt the symptom of a head gasket failure.
Better not listen to dumb suggestions. If its IS a head gasket, take it to a mechanic, judging by the questions you just asked you wont be able to pull it off, you'd have to have the head machined.

Engine gasket?! If there's anything you do, DON'T take anymore advice from this person. Anyone can sound like they know what they're talking about if they sound convincing and you don't know.

A head gasket is not something to try changing if you don't even know what tools you need. It's not the most difficult repair, but it is very high on the 'dangerous' scale. You're removing your timing belt and opening up your engine to the elements, you're putting way too much at risk, you're just asking for a blown engine. Not to mention you don't even have a bad head gasket. Maybe a leaky valve cover gasket, but a little oil never hurt. If anything it helps preserve everything, keeps it from rusting.

Assuming you're referring to black sludge on the valve cover towards the firewall, that's the PCV valve and grommet... less than $10 fix at any local auto parts store.

yeah, if your head gasket was screwed up, the car would not run properly, like...it would be running on 3 cylinders

It might run properly, my car ran just fine, only thing was that it wasnt sucking the coolant back in after I stopped. (this with a blown headgasket)
