Help with my corolla, pls

99 corolla ve touring edition.

New brake pads
about a week after they were installed they started getting noisey and it gets worse when i turn the wheel.

The car is really noisey like a bad knocking when idling and in 1-3gears(5spd std) let my foot off the gas and you can hear it. it seems not so peppy anymore too, but its been pruned. mechanic says nothing is wrong, he said that before and i lost my brakes while driving(slowly)

anyone else have this knocking problem?

thank you

My guess would be possibly sparkes and wires, have they been replaced yet, I would do it around 70-80,000, may be your problem.

plugs were cleaned by friend after this started happening. it was also reving to like 4grand then it would die as if i hit a rev limiter, it does that now off and on and can be at 3grand or high when it does this. totally random. I dont know when they were replaced last, its my parents car they are offering to sell to me, but if it continues to act like it does i may have to look else where. shame too, that car was sweet.
I dont know much about cars, so can you give a guess at how much new plugs/wires are?
